Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Intelligent Systems Lab, Fayetteville State University.
Dr. Sambit Bhattacharya is a Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Intelligent Systems Laboratory at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo and has more than two decades of teaching and research experience.
Dr. Bhattacharya leads a research program in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision, with applications spanning geospatial intelligence, robotics, edge computing, and bioimage informatics. His lab has received funding from the NSF, DoD, and other federal agencies. In 2023 he was recognized with the University of North Carolina Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching.
He has been collaborating with Modelware on two fronts: first, developing MCP-based tools that integrate AI assistants directly into the OML Code platform; and second, pioneering an approach to automatically convert manually authored engineering documents into structured, OML-based knowledge bases, lowering the barrier to adopting model-based practices in organizations with large legacy document inventories.
