Modelware is co-organizing the second edition of the onto:Nexus Workshop, formally the International Workshop on Ontological Modeling and Analysis. It takes place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 in Málaga, Spain, co-located with MODELS 2026.

We are joined on the organizing committee by Dr. Bentley Oakes (Polytechnique Montréal), Dr. Wahab Hamou-Lhadj (Concordia University), Dr. Mohammad Hamdaqa (Polytechnique Montréal), and Dr. Eduard Kamburjan (IT University of Copenhagen).

The workshop is a venue for peer-reviewed work on ontological modeling and analysis applied to model-based software and systems engineering: formal methods for rigor, DevOps practices for agility, and AI techniques for automation. Those three threads are the same ones that OML Code is built on, which is why this community matters to us.

The program

The workshop runs a full day of talks and discussion, anchored by a keynote from Prof. Andreas Harth (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and Fraunhofer IIS), Towards Unified Process Descriptions for Monitoring, Executing, Verifying & Governing Behaviour.

Three accepted papers will be presented:

• Orchestration Graph: From Knowledge Graphs to Executable Analysis Workflows with openCAESAR, by Yuta Nakajima, Yutaka Komatsu, and J. Steven Jenkins
• Representing Engineered Redundancy with the Ontological Modeling Language: A Space Systems Case Study, by Sophia Salas Cordero, Mark Chodas, Michel D. Ingham, and Rob Vingerhoeds
• From Asset Administration Shells to Knowledge Graphs: Rule-Based Semantic Lifting for Cyber-Physical Systems, by Harish Kumar Pakala, Bianca Wiesmayr, and Christian Diedrich

The program also includes a round table on How to leverage neurosymbolic AI in MBSE?, a question we have taken up ourselves in The Case for Neurosymbolic Systems Engineering.

Accepted papers will be published by IEEE in the joint workshop proceedings.
