Apollo 11
The first crewed lunar landing, described in SysML v2 from the mission's purpose down to the Saturn V's engines. The model was built by Airbus Central R&T on its five-layer CoSMA framework.
The mission in numbers
The flight as planned and as flown, and the size of the model that describes it.
The mission
Why Apollo 11 was flown, for whom, and how it unfolds: the stakeholders and their needs, the phases and operations of the concept of operations with the trajectory that sets their timing, and the flight as it actually happened.
Mission overview
The mission statement and goals, the stakeholders and their needs, the capabilities that answer them, and the systems around the mission.
Concept of operations
The mission phases and their exit criteria, the trajectory and its timing drivers, and the operations performed in each phase.
Mission timeline
The flight as it happened, one example run through the nominal plan: the mission periods, the event log and the recorded flight data.
The system
What the mission system must do and how it is built: the functions and the components that perform them, the hardware and its interfaces, and the technical budgets, from the Δv each maneuver needs to the propellant, mass and power that follow.
Functional architecture
The function breakdown, the functions' inputs and outputs, their trace to operations, and what they demand of the hardware.
Physical architecture
The type breakdown with dry mass, the configuration flown on Apollo 11, the engines and stages, and the interfaces by boundary.
Technical budgets
Budgets from the drivers to the derived values: the Δv each maneuver needs, the propellant that takes, then mass, power and reliability, each with its margin.
Requirements and programmatics
How the requirements trace from stakeholder needs down to components, and what the mission costs. Cost comes last, as in any technical review.
Requirements and traceability
The requirements at every level, the traceability matrices, and the coverage and gap report.
Programmatic resources
The mission cost estimate by category, and what a review would need that the model does not record: a base year, phasing, and the program's share.
Postulated values, in dollars of no stated year:
About the model
What the model covers, what we noticed in it, and how it is organized.
Review notes
The completeness scorecard, what we noticed in the model with a suggested change for each item, and what the model does not cover.
Model navigator
How the model is organized into CoSMA layers, packages and files, the CoSMA metamodel, and the dependencies between files.
